AAFP – American Academy of Family Physicians This live activity has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 12 Prescribed credits by the American Academy of Family Physicians. AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to the AMA PRA category 1 credit toward the AMA Physicians Recognition Award. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) is the accrediting body for family medicine continuing medical education (CME) in the United States of America.

CFPC members who complete any live CME/CPD program accredited by the AAFP for Prescribed credit can claim the equivalent number of Mainpro-M1 credits.

Canadian Healthcare professionals in other specialties need to verify with their licensing board the reciprocal credit agreement with the AAFP.

American Osteopathic Association CME activities approved for AAFP credit are recognized by the AOA as equivalent to AOA Category 2 credit.
American Academy of Physician Assistants AAPA accepts Category 1 CME approval from the AAFP.
American Academy of Nurse Practitioners AAFP Prescribed Credits are accepted by the AANP.
American Nursing Association AAFP Prescribed Credits are accepted by the ANA

Tuition Cancellation Policy


Tuition Cancellation Policy without Protection Cancellations made within 7 days of registration - full tuition amount will be refunded minus 10% processing fee (not applicable to registrations made within 30 days of conference date). Cancellations made 8 days from registration and up to 31 days before the conference date - full tuition amount minus 10% processing fee will be credited towards a future MCE Conference. Cancellations made within 30 - 8 days before the conference date - 50% of tuition fee will be credited towards a future MCE Conference. Cancellations made within 7 days or less before the conference date – no refunds or credits will be issued.


MCE Conferences Tuition Cancellation Protection-$50 When purchasing tuition cancellation protection you are able to cancel up to 31 days before the conference date - full tuition refund. Cancellation made within 30 days of the conference date - full tuition amount will be applied towards a future MCE conference. Please note: travel insurance does not cover tuition fees.

Infectious Diseases for Primary Care

Overview
This conference is designed to provide primary care practitioners with up-to-date, evidence-based information on commonly encountered in Infectious Diseases related medical issues, while suggesting pragmatic approaches to clinical management. The discussion-based format of the conference will encourage audience participation through dynamic lectures, case-based studies, and hands-on workshops. Keynote speakers will present and critically assess recent advancements and industry updates in Infectious Diseases for Primary Care, with the goal of enhancing the knowledge base and core competence of attendees. The successful completion of this interactive program should improve attendees’ confidence in diagnosing, treating, and prescribing the most effective courses of treatment, with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes.

Respiratory Tract Infections (URI and Pneumonia)
Objectives: 1) Discuss diagnostic and treatment recommendations for respiratory tract infections, including a review of national guidelines for sinusitis, community acquired pneumonia, and otitis media

Sexually Transmitted Infections
Objectives: 1) Review current epidemiology and treatment recommendations for sexually transmitted infections, with an emphasis on evolving resistance patterns among pathogens responsible for sexually transmitted infections

New Drugs and Old Bugs
Objectives: 1) Review the role of newer antimicrobial agents, and their role in the treatment of emerging bacterial resistance 2) Familiarize participants with emerging bacterial resistance patterns, and how evolving bacterial resistance is considered in the treatment of patients with infectious diseases

Objectives: 1) Familiarize participants with common presentations of acute HIV infection, AIDS, and acute and chronic viral hepatitis (including Hepatitis A, B, and C)

Objectives: 1) Understand various treatment approaches for the management of skin and soft tissue infections, with an emphasis on assessing the need for intravenous therapy

Urinary Tract Infections
Objectives: 1) Discuss diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to patients with asymptomatic bacteriuria and urinary tract infections

Animal Bites and Rabies
Objectives: 1) Discuss infections related to animal bites, including issues surrounding rabies pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis and infection

Objectives: 1) Discuss the evaluation and management of Lyme disease and other common and emerging insect-borne infections

Objectives: 1) Outline the common reasons why antibiotic therapy is not successful and how this can be avoided

Objectives: 1) Familiarize participants with the causes, diagnostic work-up, and treatment of the most common etiologies of infectious diarrhea, including C. difficile infection

Objectives: 1) Discuss the definition of fever of unknown origin (FUO), the classifications of FUO, the most common etiologies of FUO, and the diagnostic work-up of patients with FUO
