AMA/AAFP Equivalency – American Academy of Family Physicians This live activity has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 12 Prescribed credits by the American Academy of Family Physicians. AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to the AMA PRA category 1 credit toward the AMA Physicians Recognition Award. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The College of Family Physicians of Canada – Mainpro-M1 The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) is the accrediting body for family medicine continuing medical education (CME) in the United States of America.

CFPC members who complete any live CME/CPD program accredited by the AAFP for Prescribed credit can claim the equivalent number of Mainpro-M1 credits.

Canadian Healthcare professionals in other specialties need to verify with their licensing board the reciprocal credit agreement with the AAFP.

American Osteopathic Association – AOA CME activities approved for AAFP credit are recognized by the AOA as equivalent to AOA Category 2 credit.
American Academy of Physician Assistants – AAPA AAPA accepts Category 1 CME approval from the AAFP.
American Association of Nurse Practitioners – AANP AAFP Prescribed Credits are accepted by the AANP.
American Nurses Credentialing Center – ANCC According to the ANCC, the continuing education hours approved by the AAFP meet the ANCC-accredited CNE criteria.

Tuition Discount

Receive a $50 discount if you are a past MCE Conferences attendee, or for two or more healthcare professionals attending together. Receive a $100 discount if you are a past conference attendee AND if you are registering for the conference with another healthcare professional.

Tuition Cancellation Policy without Protection:

• Cancellation made within 7 days of registration: The full tuition fee will be refunded minus a 10% processing fee for all credit card transactions. This cancellation policy is not applicable to registrations made 21 days before the conference date.

• Cancellation made up and until 15 days before the conference date: Full tuition fee minus a 10% processing charge will be applied towards a future MCE Conference.

• Cancellations made within 14 days before the conference date: No refunds or credits will be issued. The full tuition fee will be forfeited.


Tuition Cancellation Protection - $50 per tuition registration:

• Tuition cancellation protection: Allows attendees to cancel up to 15 days before the conference date and receive a full refund.

• Cancellations made within 14 days of the conference date: The full tuition amount will be applied towards a future MCE conference.

Overview
This conference is designed to provide primary care practitioners with up-to-date, evidence-based information on commonly encountered pharmacology medical issues, while suggesting pragmatic approaches to clinical management. The discussion-based format of the conference will encourage audience participation through dynamic interactive lectures and case-based studies. Our National speakers will present and critically assess recent advancements and industry updates in Pharmacology for Primary Care, with the goal of enhancing the knowledge base and core competence of attendees. The successful completion of this interactive program should improve attendees’ confidence in diagnosing, treating, and prescribing the most effective courses of treatment, with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes.

Optimizing Drug Therapy for Mental Illness
Objectives: 1) Explore the roles of common psychotropic agents and their role in therapy across mood disorders 2) Describe key parameters for medications used to treat, mechanism, safety, tolerability, efficacy, cost and simplicity of use 3) Apply pharmacologic knowledge of common psychotropic agents to formulate drug therapy plans within patient cases scenarios 4) Relate physiologic and pathophysiologic alternations of brain neurochemistry to symptoms of depression of psychosis, including the genetic link and molecular basis of injury

Drug Therapy Challenges in Older Adults
Objectives: 1) Discuss key physiologic and common pathophysiologic changes of aging that impact drug therapy 2) Apply age-sensitive principles for medication dosing and management to patient scenarios 3) List nine key questions useful for identifying and managing inappropriate polypharmacy (i.e. unnecessary medication use) in older adults 4) Apply practical tools to screen and appropriately manage complex drug regimens among older adults with or at-risk for drug injury 5) Discuss high risk drug-drug and drug-dietary supplement interactions commonly encountered in primary care, including best practices in identifying and managing related toxicities

Best Practices in Prescribing Opioid Therapy
Objectives: 1) Describe evolving opioid prescribing and regulatory practices in the United States 2) Discuss recently released opioid prescribing guidelines, highlighting the relevance to primary care providers 3) Describe best practices and patient care resources for managing patients with chronic nonmalignant pain

Drug Therapies for Heart Failure
Objectives: 1) Discuss the pathophysiology and disease mechanisms associated with Heart Failure 2) Describe pharmacotherapy options and management guidelines in Heart Failure 3) Describe advantages and disadvantages of available Heart Failure therapies 4) Apply guideline based therapies using patient scenarios

Conference negotiated reduced room rates are offered 3 nights (or more) pre and post program dates (based on availability), and will be available to registered attendees up until June 9, 2017. Our allotment for conference negotiated reduced room rates might sell out before this date, and resort regular rack rates will apply (based on availability). Room Reservation Guidelines - In order to provide a quality and interactive CME program, MCE Conferences will limit the amount of registrations per conference. Some conferences may have a lower registration limit due to the destination logistics and lodging availability.

MCE Conferences does not accept commercial support for our Continuing Medical Education programs. We rely solely on tuition fees and discounted group rates for lodging, food and beverage, as well as other meeting costs to cover the expenses of holding this conference. It is required that all participants book within the meeting group allotment for MCE Conferences, in order to participate in this program. We very much appreciate your cooperation.

Meal Plans are not available when booking MCE Conference’s negotiated reduced room rates. Continental breakfast will be served to participants registered for the conference during program dates.
