AMA/AAFP Equivalency – American Academy of Family Physicians This live activity is being reviewed for up to 12 Prescribed credits by the American Academy of Family Physicians. AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to the AMA PRA category 1 credit toward the AMA Physicians Recognition Award. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The College of Family Physicians of Canada – Mainpro-M1 The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) is the accrediting body for family medicine continuing medical education (CME) in the United States of America.

CFPC members who complete any live CME/CPD program accredited by the AAFP for Prescribed credit can claim the equivalent number of Mainpro-M1 credits.

Canadian Healthcare professionals in other specialties need to verify with their licensing board the reciprocal credit agreement with the AAFP.

American Osteopathic Association – AOA CME activities approved for AAFP credit are recognized by the AOA as equivalent to AOA Category 2 credit.
American Academy of Physician Assistants – AAPA AAPA accepts Category 1 CME approval from the AAFP.
American Association of Nurse Practitioners – AANP AAFP Prescribed Credits are accepted by the AANP.
American Nurses Credentialing Center – ANCC According to the ANCC, the continuing education hours approved by the AAFP meet the ANCC-accredited CNE criteria.

Tuition Discount

Receive a $50 discount if you are a past MCE Conferences attendee, or for two or more healthcare professionals attending together. Receive a $100 discount if you are a past conference attendee AND if you are registering for the conference with another healthcare professional.

Tuition Cancellation Policy without Protection:

• Cancellation made within 7 days of registration: The full tuition fee will be refunded minus a 10% processing fee for all credit card transactions. This cancellation policy is not applicable to registrations made 21 days before the conference date.

• Cancellation made up and until 15 days before the conference date: Full tuition fee minus a 10% processing charge will be applied towards a future MCE Conference.

• Cancellations made within 14 days before the conference date: No refunds or credits will be issued. The full tuition fee will be forfeited.


Tuition Cancellation Protection - $50 per tuition registration:

• Tuition cancellation protection: Allows attendees to cancel up to 15 days before the conference date and receive a full refund.

• Cancellations made within 14 days of the conference date: The full tuition amount will be applied towards a future MCE conference.

This conference is designed to provide primary care practitioners with up-to-date, evidence-based information on commonly encountered in Infectious Diseases related medical issues, while suggesting pragmatic approaches to clinical management. The discussion-based format of the conference will encourage audience participation through dynamic lectures, case-based studies, and hands-on workshops. Keynote speakers will present and critically assess recent advancements and industry updates in Infectious Diseases for Primary Care, with the goal of enhancing the knowledge base and core competence of attendees. Skin and Soft Tissue Infections

Urinary Infections
Objectives: 1) Differentiate uncomplicated from complicated UTIs 2) List appropriate antimicrobial therapy of UTIs as listed in updated guidelines

Emerging Infections
Objectives: 1) Define and list recent emerging infections (including Ebola Virus Disease Chikungunya fever, Zika) 2) Explain role of primary care in the management of emerging infections and epidemics 3) List criteria for a pandemic

Meningitis
Objectives: 1) Understand the limitations in sensitivity of physical exam findings in patients with suspected meningitis 2) Appreciate the differential diagnosis of aseptic meningitis syndrome and indications for hospitalization 3) Understand the initial antibiotic Rx for presumptive bacterial meningitis, and secondary prevention strategies

Endocarditis (With Emphasis on Prophylaxis)
Objectives: 1) Understand current practice of antibiotic prophylaxis of IE based on AHA guidelines 2) Appreciate the diagnostic criteria for endocarditis 3) Understand empiric Rx decisions for suspected native valve and prosthetic valve endocarditis

Risk Reduction for the Patient Travelling to the Tropics
Objectives: 1) Be able to counsel patients about reducing the risk of travelers diarrhea due to foodborne illness 2) Know how to access destination specific, CDC website based travel recommendations and be familiar with commonly indicated travel vaccines 3) Understand malaria chemoprophylaxis options and their respective advantages/limitations

Osteomyelitis
Objectives: 1) Recognize clinical features that should raise the suspicion for acute and chronic osteomyelitis 2) Appreciate the role of imaging studies, cultures and biopsy in the workup of osteomyelitis 3) Become familiar with therapeutic strategies of osteomyelitis

Gastroenteritis and C. diff
Objectives: 1) Understand the epidemiology and clinical presentation of infectious gastroenteritis 2) Understand pathogen based treatment recommendations for enteritis 3) Appreciate options for secondary prevention of C. diff

Latent Tuberculosis
Objectives: 1) Understand the current epidemiology of TB in the U.S. 2) Understand which populations merit screening and be able to interpret results of available diagnostic modalities 3) Be comfortable providing and monitoring treatment in latently infected patients

Room Reservation Guidelines - In order to provide a quality and interactive CME program, MCE Conferences will limit the amount of registrations per conference. Some conferences may have a lower registration limit due to the destination logistics and lodging availability.

MCE Conferences does not accept commercial support for our Continuing Medical Education programs. We rely solely on tuition fees and discounted group rates for lodging, food and beverage, as well as other meeting costs to cover the expenses of holding this conference. It is required that all participants and their families book within the meeting group allotment for MCE Conferences, in order to participate in this program. We very much appreciate your cooperation.

Cancellation 59-31 days before arrival - a one night deposit is forfeited
