Managing Anxiety and Sleep Disorders: Drug and Non-Pharmacologic Considerations
Objectives: 1) Describe signs and symptoms of common sleep disorders and anxiety disorders with a focus on older adults. 2) Discuss common anxiety disorders, including the neurobiological basis of disease, clinical presentation, assessment, and approach to treatment. 3) Recognize evidence-based treatments for insomnia and common anxiety disorders, including lifestyle, behavioral, and pharmacologic interventions. 4) Identify key parameters that warrant referral to specialty care for individuals with insomnia and/or anxiety disorders

Objectives: 1) Apply learnings from the prior session to identify lab thresholds of kidney function that do and do not require a nephrology referral 2) Distinguish between conditions safe for ongoing primary care management versus those that would benefit from specialist referral 3) Discuss the initial evaluation for acute kidney injury that can be initiated in primary care before referral to specialist 4) Identify patients that require urgent evaluation in Nephrology 5) Recognize common conditions that are more appropriate for other specialty clinics rather than nephrology
Electrolyte Abnormalities in Outpatient Practice
Objectives: 1) Approach common electrolyte abnormalities (hyponatremia, hyperkalemia, hypokalemia) systematically and be able to initiate the work up of electrolyte abnormalities 2) Recognize common medications that may be contributing to electrolyte abnormalities 3) Assess dietary factors that may be contributing to electrolyte abnormalities 4) Identify which patients require urgent evaluation versus outpatient follow up

Hypertension Management in Chronic Kidney Disease

Pet Policy: Omni San Francisco Hotel is a pet-friendly hotel for dogs only, weighing up to 20 lbs. There is a $150 non-refundable cleaning fee for one dog and $75 for each additional dog. Subject to change at Hotel’s discretion.
Smoking Policy: All guest rooms are smoke-free
Parking – There is a charge for valet parking. The current overnight valet rate is $82.00, plus tax; parking reduced to $72.00, plus tax for MCE attendees and staff. Parking rates are subject to change based on Hotel policy.
Lodging Deposit – A first night’s deposit is required at the time of booking to guarantee your reservation. The remaining balance is due to the hotel upon arrival.
Lodging Cancellations – Terms and conditions as per MCE’s room allotment agreement with conference lodging venue:
- Cancellation made 31 days or more prior to arrival: A full refund will be issued.
- Cancellation 30 days or less prior to arrival: No refunds will be issued.
- No-shows and early departures are considered a cancellation: No refunds will be issued.
