Objectives: 1) List three key steps in the differential diagnosis of patients presenting with depressive symptoms 2) Distinguish between the core signs and symptoms of common anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and social anxiety disorder 3) Highlight three current best practices for managing anxiety disorders in primary care, including pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic approaches, such as SSRIs, CBT referrals, and lifestyle modifications
Understanding Somatic Symptom Disorders
Objectives: 1) Highlight the relationship between conscious, unconscious motivations and symptoms production, and the relationship to several core classes of somatic symptoms disorder 2) Define primary and secondary gain to understand the relationship to somatic symptom disorders 3) Become familiar with basic tenets of assessment and treatment for several common somatic symptom disorders
Non-Malignant Pain Considerations and Safe Opioid Prescribing
Objectives: 1) Develop a deeper understanding of the neurobiology of chronic pain and how this relates to pharmacologic targets 2) Develop a data-driven and practical understanding of dosing, benefits, and side-effects of common non-opioid pharmacologic agents 3) Review pharmacologic algorithms for treating common pain syndromes, such as acute back pain, fibromyalgia, and neuropathic pain 4) Develop a practical approach to opioid risk stratification and identification of opioid use disorder
Cancer Screening and Survivorship
Objectives: 1) Cite recommended guidelines for screening of colorectal, cervical, lung, breast, and prostate cancer based on available evidence 2) Identify differences between American Cancer Society recommendations versus other major screening guidelines, such as USPSTF and others 3) Describe common barriers to early cancer screening, as well as arguments for and against it

Approaches to Early- and Late-Stage Dementia Syndromes
Objectives: 1) Compare cognitive impairment and dementia, and discuss the common trajectories of each 2) Interpret the best evidence in investigating the role of nutritional support in patients with dementia 3) Describe common prognostic scales for patients with dementia, including the Mitchell Mortality Index and the FAST Score
Recognizing and Dealing Effectively with Difficult Patients
Objectives: 1) Highlight the core features that distinguish personality disorders from regular personality variations, including the use of defense mechanisms 2) List the three main categories for personality disorders 3) Review three common comorbidities for personality disorders 4) Discuss three basic treatment modalities that may be effective for some personality disorders
Identifying Mimics of Psychiatric Disorders, Including Medical Mimics, Substance Use & More
Objectives: 1) Review the importance and clinical impact of ruling out medical mimics and substance-induced states that can be presented as psychiatric disorders 2) Achieve enhanced diagnostic accuracy through targeted history-taking and clinical assessment 3) Recognize red flags and atypical presentations that suggest a non-psychiatric etiology
