This online live stream CME will be broadcasting from one of our in-person CME destinations. This program will be acceptable for up to 12 Prescribed credits by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and the American Academy of Family Physicians. This program is accredited as a live activity. Recordings of the event will be provided to all registered attendees at the conclusion of the course.

This online live stream is designed to provide primary care clinicians with up-to-date, evidence-based information on commonly encountered issues in Primary Care Update: Adult and Pediatric Infectious Diseases while suggesting pragmatic approaches to clinical management.

The online learning format will encourage audience participation through dynamic lectures, and case-based studies. Keynote speakers will present and critically assess recent advancements and industry updates in Primary Care, with the goal of enhancing the knowledge-base and core competence of attendees. Objectives: 1) Review the approach to selected primary care-associated infections, including selected emerging viral infections, exotic pet-associated infections, and recreational water-associated infections in a case-based format

Objective: 1) Review several case-based presentations, which may or may not be due to an infectious disease

Objective: 1) Provide an update on recommendations regarding antibiotic prophylaxis for infective endocarditis and prosthetic joint infections, as well as, selected fever and rash presentations in a case-based format

Management of Common Pediatric Upper Respiratory Tract Infections
Objectives: 1) Understand the impact of antimicrobial resistance in pediatrics 2) Become familiar with the appropriate evaluation and treatment for otitis media and sinusitis 3) Select appropriate antibiotic therapy for streptococcal pharyngitis 4) Recommend appropriate management for streptococcal carriers

Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Evidence-Based Management
Objectives: 1) Become familiar with the impact of MRSA in common pediatric skin and soft tissue infections (SSTI) 2) Select appropriate antibiotic therapy for superficial skin infections 3) Become familiar with the appropriate evaluation and treatment of purulent SSTI 4) Recommend appropriate management for the child with recurrent skin abscesses

Immunization Update 2021
Objectives: 1) Become familiar with the recent changes in the immunization schedule for children and adolescents 2) Describe emerging immunization issues 3) Become familiar with new immunization requirements in children and adolescents 4) Become aware of recent immunization recommendations for adults

Is it Just “Bad Luck”? Evaluation of the Child with Recurrent Infections
Objectives: 1) Identify which children may require work-up for recurrent infections 2) Become familiar with the most common immunodeficiencies in children 3) Select appropriate screening tests for possible immunodeficiency 4) Select cost-effective diagnostic studies for children with recurrent infections

Dealing with the Uncertain: Fever Without a Source and Fever of Unknown Origin
Objectives: 1) Identify young febrile children at increased risk of serious bacterial infections 2) Become familiar with current evidence upon which decision-making guidelines are based 3) Recommend appropriate diagnostic studies for young infants with a fever without source 4) Become familiar with the stepwise evaluation for children with fever of unknown origin

The Pediatric Traveler: It’s More Than Just Zika
Objectives: 1) Become familiar with the approach to the pregnant mother and baby potentially exposed to Zika virus 2) Become familiar with immunizations recommended for pediatric travelers 3) Become familiar with the need for malaria prophylaxis for certain travelers 4) Identify possible exotic infections in returning travelers

Check-in/Check-out times: Check in-time begins at 4:00 PM. Check-out time is at 10:00 AM. The bell captain can arrange to hold luggage for guests attending the program in order to avoid late check-out.

Resort Charge – The resort fee covers items including, but not limited to, complimentary resort transportation; two bicycles per unit for up to four hours of usage daily; fitness center usage; one hour per day of tennis court time (based on availability); one hour per day usage on either a canoe, kayak or boogie board, self-parking, Wi-Fi in the Baytowne and Linkside Conference Center, and reservation processing services. The resort fee is not a government-imposed charge. All rates are subject to applicable state and local taxes and fees in effect at time of check-in (currently 11% for accommodations and 9% taxes and fees for all other services).

  • Cancellation made 31 days or more prior to arrival: A full refund will be issued.
  • Cancellation 30 days or less prior to arrival: No refunds will be issued.
