Non-Opioid Pharmacologic Management of Chronic Pain
Objectives: 1) Discuss the neurobiology of chronic pain and how this relates to pharmacologic targets 2) Develop a data-driven and practical understanding of dosing, benefits, and side-effects of common non-opioid pharmacologic agents 3) Implement pharmacologic algorithms for treating common pain syndromes, such as acute back pain, fibromyalgia, and neuropathic pain
Opioids for Chronic and Cancer Pain: Rationale Prescribing
Objectives: 1) Become comfortable with practical aspects of chronic opioid therapy, including opioid selection, rotation, and side-effect management 2) Appreciate the nuances in titration for different pain syndromes 3) Review clinical pearls and strategies for managing chronic opioid therapy, as safely as possible 4) Discuss the use of opioids for cancer pain and how the approach differs from chronic non-cancer pain
Heart Failure
Objectives: 1) Recognize and interpret signs and symptoms of heart failure exacerbation, assess fluid status, and optimize medication therapy according to current guidelines, such as ACE-I, ARBs, ARNis, SGLT2i, beta-blockers, and aldosterone antagonists 2) Define the pathophysiology of heart failure, including mechanisms of myocardial dysfunction, neurohormonal activation, and compensatory responses 3) Formulate individualized treatment plans aimed at improving symptoms, reducing hospitalizations, and optimizing long-term outcomes
Coronary Artery Disease
Objectives: 1) Review the pathophysiology, risk factors, and natural history of CAD 2) Apply evidence-based management strategies aimed at reducing mortality and preventing disease progression 3) Select appropriate pharmacological therapies for the management of CAD 4) Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to patients’ clinical profiles and risk factors

Diabetes and Heart Disease
Objectives: 1) Describe the pathophysiological mechanisms by which diabetes contributes to the development and progression of cardiovascular disease, including the roles of hyperglycemia, endothelial dysfunction, and chronic inflammation 2) Review current guidelines and evidence-based practices for the treatment of cardiovascular disease in diabetic patients, including the use of antidiabetic agents with cardiovascular benefits, such as SGLT-2 inhibitors and GLP-1 agonists, antihypertensive therapies, and lipid-lowering treatments
Managing Pain in Geriatric Patients
Objectives: 1) Recognize the nuances in assessing pain in the elderly 2) Review the pharmacologic challenges in managing elderly patients 3) Identify the balance between pain control and iatrogenesis in the elderly population
Interventional Procedures for Spine Pain
Objectives: 1) Recognize the rationale and technical considerations of common minimally invasive interventions for spine-related pain, such as epidural steroid injections, radiofrequency lesioning, facet injections, sacroiliac injections, and spinal cord stimulation 2) Review the data behind the techniques by way of a data-driven literature review 3) Develop a systematic approach to identifying when patients may or may not benefit from interventional spine procedures

Managing Pain and Symptoms at the End-of-Life
Objectives: 1) Discuss the optimal measures to control pain at the end-of-life through case-based discussions 2) Manage common end-of-life clinical scenarios, such as dyspnea, delirium, and terminal secretions 3) Discuss how to become more empowered to be able to effectively guide emotional family members through the dying process
Challenging Pain Scenarios: An Interactive Case-Based Discussion
Objectives: 1) Develop a frame to systematically break down and analyze complex pain scenarios 2) Utilize the audience’s collective mind to develop practical strategies to address the various clinical complexities of the cases 3) Become more comfortable and empowered to handle such cases upon returning to the clinical practice
Assessment of Patients Presenting with Chest Pain
Objectives: 1) Conduct a comprehensive assessment of patients presenting with chest pain, including a focused medical history and physical examination 2) Utilize appropriate diagnostic tests, such as EKG, CXR, echo and laboratory 3) Identify potential life-threatening causes of chest pain, such as acute coronary syndrome, myocardial infarction, pulmonary embolism, and aortic dissection 4) Develop a systematic approach to differentiate between benign and urgent etiologies through critical analysis of clinical findings and diagnostic results
Patient-Specific Cases
Objectives: 1) Categorize heart failure severity, create personalized treatment plans, and implement monitoring strategies to optimize outcomes and prevent readmissions 2) Evaluate blood pressure, assess cardiovascular risk factors, and develop management strategies to achieve target BP and reduce complication risks for stroke or heart disease 3) Assess CAD severity through clinical evaluation and testing, then develop and implement individualized treatment plans to improve long-term outcomes 4) Assess the interplay between diabetes and cardiovascular health, develop a treatment plan that optimizes blood sugar control while also addressing cardiovascular risk factors, and implement strategies to prevent adverse cardiovascular outcome in diabetic patients

Additional Lodging Information –
- Taxes: The Group Room Rates are subject to applicable sales and resort taxes, currently 12½%. There will be no mandatory resort or other fee levied on the sleeping rooms in addition to the Group Room Rate plus applicable taxes (unless required by law).
- Additional Adult Charge: Guest room rates are quoted as single or double occupancy. The charge for additional guests beyond double occupancy is $35.00 plus applicable tax per guest per night for adults 18 years and older.
- Occupancy: Maximum room occupancy is (5) guests.
Hotel Parking – Standard overnight self-parking is available to registered Guests for a fee that will be applied to their hotel folio upon check-out.
- Currently self-parking for overnight guests at Walt Disney World Resorts is complimentary; (previously $25 per night). with Valet parking rates available for $42 per night. All parking fees are subject to change based on Hotel’s Discretion.
- Complimentary Self-parking will be provided during the hours of the meeting for all local and offsite MCE Attendees.
All parking fees include applicable tax and are subject to change.
Lodging Deposit – A Deposit of 1 Night + Tax is due at the time of booking. Balance is due to the resort upon arrival.
Lodging Cancellations – Terms and conditions as per MCE’s room agreement with the conference lodging venue:
- Should an attendee cancel a reservation, a refund of the deposit and/or cancellation fees will be in accordance with the hotel’s general policy at that time (currently a refund is given if an individual’s reservation is
canceled at least five days before arrival). - No-shows and early departures are considered a cancellation: No refunds will be issued.
All lodging cancellations must be made directly with the lodging venue. Please refer to your lodging confirmation for contact information and policies.
Register & Book Your Lodging Early! The MCE reduced room rates will be available to registered attendees up until March 1, 2026 (based on availability). Our allotment for reduced room rates may sell out before this date. We urge you to secure your lodging reservation as early as possible. Reduced rates will also be offered for 3 nights pre and post-program dates (based on availability).
